scratchboards

Each student picked a different animal to study.
We spent one day researching the look of the animal and their habitat.
Students sketched for two days.
Students spent six days coloring the background of the scratchboard with crayons in a large grid.
One day was spent painting the black/soap coat.
Then 5th graders lightly sketched the main parts of their drawings.
Finally, students scratched for three days. Texture. Texture. Texture.
